Robert Field

Field Honey Farm, Dorset and Wiltshire

Bee-ography

Robert is a bee farmer who makes things happen. Since joining his father’s business in the mid 80s, Field Honey Farm has expanded from 150 hives in the Thames Valley to 1000 across the West Country.

Now with 5 decades of experience in bee farming, Robert’s a well-respected member of the bee farming community. He was the youngest ever chairman of the BFA (that’s the Bee Farmer’s Association for the uninitiated) and inspires beekeepers across the country.

About the farms

Robert keeps hives on the Isle of Purbeck, a picturesque stretch of the Dorset coast where they forge on the hedgerows, pastures and hearthlands, producing Hawthorn, Ling, Dandelion, Sweet Clover and Bell Heather honey. Other farms in North Dorset get a good crop of Polyfloral honey depending on the weather.

But the apex of his operation is Salisbury Plain. He holds hectares of unspoiled land with little or no other farming, providing perfect conditions for acres upon acres of wild flowers to grow.
